About the work

Hands-on diagnosis backed by systems thinking.

I’m Robert Langhorn. My background brings together hands-on appliance and electronics repair with Linux systems, networking, security, and self-hosted infrastructure. That combination helps when a problem does not stay inside one discipline.

My approach

Listen, isolate, explain.

I start by understanding what failed, what changed, and what outcome matters. Then I narrow the fault with evidence instead of replacing parts or rewriting systems at random.

When there are multiple viable paths, I explain the cost, risk, maintenance, and recovery trade-offs in plain language.

Experience across layers

Mechanical to virtual.

  • Appliance repair and electronics diagnostics
  • Computers, Linux, virtualization, and storage
  • Networks, firewalls, VPNs, and privacy controls
  • Automation, APIs, monitoring, and self-hosted services
  • Documentation, validation, backup, and rollback planning

What you can expect

Straight answers and responsible scope.

Professional service is not just technical ability. It is knowing what to touch, what not to touch, and how to communicate the difference.

Honest diagnosis

I separate confirmed findings from likely causes and clearly label uncertainty.

No unnecessary upsell

The recommendation should fit the problem, not create a larger project for its own sake.

Verified completion

A repair or configuration change is not complete until the expected behavior has been tested.

Need practical technical help?

Describe the problem and the outcome you need.

I’ll help identify the right next step, whether that is a repair, a configuration change, a deeper diagnosis, or an honest referral.
